Freeport, Maine is the small town generally known as the birthplace of the state of Maine. It was founded as a small parcel of land attached to the town of North Yarmouth in the late 18th century. In fact, the town was freed from North Yarmouth on the Fourth of July in 1889, the date that coincides with our nation's independence.

Freeport, Maine is situated on the Atlantic Coast, which has allowed it to thrive on the fishing industry.
